Medicare Coverage Policy: The Balance Between Local and National Decision Making

The goals for this conference were fourfold; to review the current state of affairs with respect to local and national coverage of new technologies, to build an understanding of the local process, to identify issues and raise questions about the Medicare coverage process, and to discuss proposed options for modifying the current process through legislative and/or agency initiatives.

Defining a Regulatory Process for Combination Products: The Emergence of Tissue Engineering

For this Summit, the MTLF assembled officials from the Food and Drug Administration, leading scientists, researchers and medical technology companies to explore the unique regulatory challenges that Tissue Engineering and other combination products pose.

2002 Capitol Forum

The 2002 Capitol Forum provided the MTLF and its members with an opportunity to: take measure of the health policy leadership within the new Bush Administration, to dialogue with legislative and executive branch staff on the topics of coverage for Clinical Information Technology (the topic of our Duke Forum in 2001), and to discuss issues of conflict of interest at the academic/industry interface (the subject of our Stanford Forum in 2001).
