For 13 years, MTLF has brought leaders in health care and medical technology together to discuss critical health policy issues. 2009 will be a year of significant policy change, built on improving affordability, access, and quality. In recent Forums, MTLF has focused its policy dialogue around community efforts to improve value, including June 2008 in San Francisco and December 2008 in Indianapolis.
The MTLF May 09 Forum in Boston will inquire into the performance of the health care market in relationship to anticipated efforts to reduce health care costs while improving quality and access. What is the likely direction of national health care policy reform? What can we learn from Massachusetts’ health care institutions, professionals, and innovators about changes they have made, will make, or should make to accomplish these larger national goals? We will also examine the role of the state government – the Commonwealth of Massachusetts – to provide universal access, as well as its creative efforts to invest in to invest in biotech and health information technology.
